THE CULTURE OF EQUAL OPPORTUNITY

There is a need to work and educate the student of the culture of sharing, donating, sharing, exchanging, democratizing, social justice, equal opportunities, equal rights and duties, ethics, notions of citizenship and the rescue of values. The school that proposes this way of encouraging the student in this new culture reinvents itself and solidifies itself as an institution, because it will make the student’s life become a solid basis for peaceful coexistence and mutual respect.

This reinvented school will be built on a secure and strong foundation of citizen, fraternal and supportive identities. The student, in this school, will be the fundamental actor of his own learning and his education, and the one responsible for the construction of his history. In this school the educator will have his identity reinforced, being the mediator, the guiding one, the incentive one, that helps to solve problems and the guide in the search of solutions. Through a culture of peace and equal rights, students will struggle against this loss of values and become aware of their concern about Nonviolence. The school is an environment where the student spends a good part of the day and can be happy or build his happiness. The school institution needs to retake the style of a space of pleasure, learning and dialogue.

As violence arises out of school, in the social and family order, as we work the culture of sharing, donating, sharing, exchanging, democratizing, social justice, equal opportunities, equal rights and duties, ethics, notions of citizenship and the recovery of values , We will be using creativity and appreciation of culture, taking an assertive position in the construction of mitigating violence in the school environment. However, the culture of peace can not be built as an independent item, because it is necessary to favor justice and build solidarity. We have to have the listening ability of the other, because the culture of violence is increasingly centered in the different social environments, from the family to the State.

In the culture of peace, we must develop a tradition of human rights, in seeking the importance of the dignity of each person in the recognition of plurality and difference, promoting interaction between different groups and cultures. Education should be concerned to teach respect for life, to cultivate in students the need to be true stewards and mediators of peace. Rejecting violence is the basis for a culture of peace. The Peace Generation Kit was developed by the non-governmental organization -Rio and has membership of the Peace in Schools program, of the Ministry of Justice. This material was created for high school teachers with suggestions of subjects and activities for adolescents to talk about family, love, power, freedom. It is every society shaking hands and mobilizing for a culture of nonviolence.
